The Genome As Art

Circos is a unique method of visualizing genomic alignment data that is both quite informative and artistic. If you have access to genome data, you can use the software to plot data yourself. However, if you just want some art for your wall, check out their selection of posters.

Prime Number Posters

If you love numbers Perfectly Scientific's Prime Number Posters are perfect decoration for your office, lab or bedroom wall.
For years Perfectly Scientific Inc. has been producing high quality posters of the largest currently known explicit prime number. Each poster is printed on thick glossy paper and measures 29 inches by 40 inches **. Framed and unframed posters dating back to June of 1999 are available for purchase.
The current largest prime is 232582657-1 and looks, from a distance, like grey scale noise. It's not till you get up close (or use a magnifier) that you can actually see all the digits.

Patron Saints of Chemistry: Saints Cosmas and Damian

Twin brothers and healers Saint Damian and Saint Cosmas are - among many other things - the patrons of apothecaries, the chemical industry and chemical manufacturers. If you need a divine presence to help watch over your lab, you might want to order this handsome reproduction of a Greek icon depicting the twins (shown at left). Or, if you'd rather keep them closer to your person, a sterling silver medal with their image might be the perfect piece of jewelry for you.

Calendar Geeks: Sexy Girls Who Can Use Their Brains

Want a display that shows that geeks can be sexy too? You might be interested in the 2009 Calendar Geeks calendar. Each month has a different gorgeous geek: chemistry geek, librarian geek, knitting geek, math geek, music geek, grammar geek, steampunk geek, history geek, computer geek, theater tech geek, roleplaying game geek and video game geek. And it marks the important days of the year:
In addition to the photos, the twelve-month calendar features geeky holidays such as Pi Day, sci-fi cons, birthdays of notable geeks like Albert Einstein and Ada Lovelace, and the Unix timestamp 1234567890.
Sadly, the chemistry geek, Ava, died in May.
The calendar is dedicated to Ava, and her portion of the profits will be donated to a scholarship fund in her memory.

You Can Have the Same Saturn Art as Sir Paul!

The Cassini Imaging Central Laboratory for Operations (CICLOPS) has created a beautiful poster showing 64 images of Saturn taken by the Cassini spacecraft. The images were compiled in honor of Sir Paul McCartney:
On June 18, 2006, we celebrated Paul McCartney's 64th birthday by highlighting sixty-four of our most dazzling images, a kaleidoscope of splendor and spectacle, in an 8-minute-long cinematic production accompanied by the music of the Beatles.

These same sixty-four scenes from Saturn have been composited into the poster shown here, and sent to the former Beatle, along with a CD of the movie.
Download a copy of the poster for yourself.
